The Paris Packing Trick: White Sneakers, Elevated

There’s a certain art to dressing for Paris. You want to look polished but not precious, elegant without overthinking it. And when your itinerary includes everything from museum-hopping to long lunches in Saint-Germain, your shoes need to work overtime. I’m always shocked when I see how many miles I’ve walked in Paris. I LOVE France! Enter: the chicest travel upgrade you didn’t know you needed. White (or any color!) sneakers — simple, classic, always in the suitcase. But this time? They’re getting the Crown Check Approved treatment with a quick, clever twist: Hermès silk shoelaces. Yes, Hermès. On your sneakers. It’s the kind of high-low styling that French girls do best (like a Rolex laced onto a pair of Nikes in St Tropez…but really). A flash of silk peeking out from your laces gives that effortless-meets-elegance feel, like you might’ve just thrown it together. These laces come from repurposed Hermès silk scarves. Think of them as jewelry for your feet — but better, because you can walk all day in them. Cost-per-wear? Off the charts. You’re still wearing your go-to sneakers, but with a twist that feels très spécial. I’ve picked out some solid tennis shoes, but wouldn’t hesitate to add the Hermes laces to shoe. Add them to your existing Adidas or New Balance or whatever your go-to is these days. The more personality that shows, the better. Love whatever you’re wearing and it’ll magically work… I promise.

Outfit Making Valentino: High Low

Old Navy Jeans, Veronica Beard tee combined with a bag that costs several times what the outfit costs? Why not. I love a statement accessory because I can be lazy with out clothes and I love high low, because real life. Each of these bags could be worn SO.MANY.WAYS and it brings the COST PER WEAR (my favorite way to think about purchases) wayyyyy down to reality (I mean “reality” might be stretching it, but you know what I mean… you can justify it-ish). The crochet lady like bag could be worn from crossbody baseball parade to lunch birthday party to dinner at the restaurant you barely got reservations for. The totes can be worn anywhere from the grocery store to a resort. And they’d pack well because they’re “flexible” if that makes sense and smoosh down. The suede bags at the bottom are DELICIOUS and drape so well in person. Every one of these bags take an outfit from eh, cute to wow, interesting…
