From Sneakers to Polished

How to switch shoes to polish your daylook

Not into tennis shoes? Or into tennis shoes during the day, only when necessary, but the kind of girl who wants polish, as often as possible? No problem. Your outfits should work harder for you than you did to buy those outfits, but usually we don’t require much of them. Just swap the sneakers for ballet flats, sandals, or a block heel when the sun goes down. Same base, different look.

Can You Really Wear Sneakers With Everything? The Art of the Sporty-Sweet Combo Fit

How to style dresses with sneakers

Short answer: yes. And I do — often because of my very casual lifestyle in a very casual city. The casualization of American fashion? It’s a whole thing. Some call it a tragedy (hi, Tom Ford). Others find it liberating. Honestly, I’m both. I miss the glamour, but I also love being able to run through a full day — errands, schooling my boys (while they’re still shorter than me) in basketball before I go to tennis matches for older sisters, to early dinner — in tennis shoes without blinking or changing. The secret to making sneakers feel intentional? High-low balance. Think: an easy dress + sneakers + jewelry that’s uniquely you. Something with a little story — vintage (from your grandmother?), a charm bracelet that feels personal, a necklace you’ve worn forever, a signet ring that makes you smile, earrings you never take off. Keep the sneakers and jewelry on repeat, and just rotate the dress. It’s a real-life uniform that works hard without feeling tired. For these collages I was mindful of how expensive some of recommended tennis shoes & bags were, so none of the dresses are over $100 (Think Walmart, Old Navy, Abercrombie). Two are from Walmart and they fit beautifully and the fabric is easily as good as a dress that is over $500. Because I wear my sneakers constantly, I don’t mind spending a little more on them. The cost-per-wear always ends up lower, which is the kind of math I can get behind. Bonus: I don’t have to think too hard. And I like it that way. So where does the Adjust My Crown app fit into all of this — and how does it help you become the chicest version of yourself in less time than you’ve ever spent getting dressed? Use it to pre-shop smarter. You can post side-by-sides: things you already own next to the new item you’re considering orpit two new options against each other in a poll. Let your closet (and your community) weigh in before you commit. Once you do buy something new, style it every way you can while the dopamine is high and you’re still in love with it. Then save those looks in the app so they’re ready when you’re not feeling inspired. I know — you think you’ll remember all the ways you wore it. But trust me, it’s freeing to offload that mental clutter. In the morning, you can just scroll your collections, pick a fully styled outfit (accessories and all), and be out the door looking and feeling amazing in under a minute.
